وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، فِي قَوْلِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : وَالنَّخْلَ بَاسِقَاتٍ لَهَا طَلْعٌ نَضِيدٌ قَالَ : الْبَاسِقَاتُ : الطِّوَالُ ، وَالنَّضِيدُ : الْمُتَرَاكِمُ .
It is narrated from Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding this statement of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: "And tall palm trees with fruit-clusters arranged in layers" [Surah Qaf: 10], that he said: al-basiqat means "tall-statured, that is, very tall date palms," and al-nadid means "a cluster set layer upon layer, or piled one upon another."
Imam Musaddad (may Allah have mercy on him) said that Abu al-Ahwas transmitted this exegetical statement to us by way of Simak, from Ikrimah.
