It is narrated from Salim bin Abdullah (may Allah have mercy on him) that the view of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was: "It means the morning prayer," that is, by the middle prayer [Surah al-Baqarah: 238] he meant the Fajr prayer.
The chain of this report is sahih (authentic), and Imam Ishaq bin Rahwayh transmitted it in his Musnad.
