It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Never invoke curses against your children, lest it coincide with a time of acceptance from Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and that curse of yours be accepted against them."
Imam Abu Ya'la narrated this hadith in his Musnad. Although Abdullah bin Ja'far bin Najih in its chain is not free from criticism, the hadith of Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) in Sahih Muslim (no. 3009) supports it, which establishes the basis of its text.
