[وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ ] : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ ابْنِ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : ( إِنَّ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ كَانَ لَا يَرَى بَأْسًا أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ الرَّجُلُ فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ ، وَكَانَ يُصَلِّي فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ قَدْ خَالَفَ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ ) .
Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), that "Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) did not see any harm or objection in a man performing prayer in just a single garment, and he himself would pray in a single sheet in such a way that he crossed its two ends over in opposite directions (over his shoulders)."
Imam Musaddad (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated it in his Musnad, and all the men of its chain are thiqat (trustworthy).
