Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 3282 — Giving precedence to deeds

وَقَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : أَخْبَرَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، ثَنَا أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ لَبِيبَةَ ، عَنْ سَعْدٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " خَيْرُ الرِّزْقِ مَا يَكْفِي ، وَخَيْرُ الذِّكْرِ مَا يَخْفَى " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best provision is that which suffices (for one's needs), and the best remembrance is that which is hidden (that is, free of showing off and done in secret)."
Imam Ahmad recorded this hadith in Musnad Ahmad, and Allamah al-Albani declared it sahih (authentic).
