وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا الزِّمَّانِيُّ ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ هُوَ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، ثَنَا الْمُثَنَّى بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، ثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " الدُّنْيَا خَضِرَةٌ حُلْوَةٌ ، فَمَنِ اتَّقَى فِيهَا وَأَصْلَحَ فِي ذَلِكَ ، وَإِلَّا فَهُوَ كَالْآكِلِ وَلَا يَشْبَعُ ، فَبُعْدُ النَّاسِ كَبُعْدِ الْكَوْكَبَيْنِ يَطْلُعُ أَحَدُهُمَا مِنَ الْمَشْرِقِ ، وَالْآخَرُ يَغِيبُ مِنَ الْمَغْرِبِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The world is green and lush, and most attractive and sweet. So whoever adopts the fear of Allah in it and sets his affairs right (succeeds); otherwise, his likeness is that of one who eats but is never satisfied. And the distance between people (in ranks and degrees) will be like the distance between two stars, one of which is rising in the east and the other setting in the west."
Imam Abu Ya'la narrated it in his Musnad; its chain contains a narrator named al-Muthanna bin al-Sabbah, who is da'if (weak).
