Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 3272 — Dislike of living in the desert

وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ بَدَا جَفَا " .
3272 \ 2 - وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، بِهَذَا .
( 126 ) وَحَدِيثُ عَسْعَسِ بْنِ سَلَامَةَ مَضَى فِي الْجِهَادِ .

( 126 ) وَحَدِيثُ عَسْعَسِ بْنِ سَلَامَةَ مَضَى فِي الْجِهَادِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Bara' bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever adopts desert-dwelling or village life becomes harsh-natured and coarse."
Imam Abu Ya'la also reported this same narration with his chain from Abu Bakr; and the hadith of As'as bin Salamah has already passed in the Book of Jihad.
