قَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ الْمُحَبَّرِ ، ثَنَا مَيْسَرَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ قَالَا : خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ بِطُولِهِ ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ نَزَلَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَابْتَدَرَهُ رَهْطٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ مِنَ الْمِنْبَرِ فَقَالُوا : أَنْفُسُنَا لَكَ الْفِدَاءُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ، مَنْ يَقُومُ بِهَذِهِ الشَّدَائِدِ وَكَيْفَ الْعَيْشُ بَعْدَ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ ؟ فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَهُمْ : " وَأَنْتُمْ فِدَاكُمْ أَبِي وَأُمِّي ، نَازَلْتُ رَبِّي تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى فِي أُمَّتِي فَقَالَ لِي : بَابُ التَّوْبَةِ مَفْتُوحٌ حَتَّى يُنْفَخَ فِي الصُّورِ " ثُمَّ قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ تَابَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ بِسَنَةٍ تَابَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ " ، ثُمَّ قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " سَنَةٌ كَثِيرٌ ، مَنْ تَابَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ بِشَهْرٍ تَابَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ " ثُمَّ قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " شَهْرٌ كَثِيرٌ ، مَنْ تَابَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ بِجُمُعَةٍ تَابَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ " ثُمَّ قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " جُمُعَةٌ كَثِيرٌ ، مَنْ تَابَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ بِيَوْمٍ تَابَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ " ثُمَّ قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَوْمٌ كَثِيرٌ ، مَنْ تَابَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ بِسَاعَةٍ تَابَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ " ثُمَّ قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ تَابَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُغَرْغِرَ بِالْمَوْتِ تَابَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ " ثُمَّ نَزَلَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَكَانَتْ آخِرَ خُطْبَةٍ خَطَبَهَا

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a long sermon to us (the narrator mentioned the whole hadith in detail). Then, when he (peace and blessings be upon him) was about to come down from the pulpit, a group of the Ansar (may Allah be pleased with them) rushed towards him before he had completely come down from the pulpit and said: "O Messenger of Allah! May our lives be ransomed for you! Who can bear these hardships, and what will life be like after the mention of this (terrifying) day?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: "And may my father and mother be ransomed for you! I earnestly pleaded with my Lord, the Blessed and Exalted, concerning my Ummah, and He said to me that the door of repentance is open until the Trumpet is blown." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever repents a year before his death, Allah will accept his repentance." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A year is a lot; whoever repents a month before his death, Allah will accept his repentance." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A month is also a lot; whoever repents a week before his death, Allah will accept his repentance." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A week is also a lot; whoever repents a day before his death, Allah will accept his repentance." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A day is also a lot; whoever repents an hour before his death, Allah will accept his repentance." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever repents before the death rattle (the gurgling of the throes of death) begins, Allah will accept his repentance." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) came down from the pulpit, and this was the last sermon he delivered.
