It is narrated from Ju'ayd bin Abd al-Rahman that we were with Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) when al-Zubayr bin Sahl bin Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with them) came to him, and the mark of prostration was prominent on his face. Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: "Who is this?" We said: This is al-Zubayr bin Sahl. He said (in astonishment): "By Allah! This is not the mark that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, mentioned in 'Their mark is on their faces from the trace of prostration' [Surah al-Fath: 29]. I have been prostrating on my face for eighty years, yet (despite this abundance of prostration) prostration has left no mark between my eyes."
This chain is sahih (authentic), and this report is mawquf (stopping at the Companion).
