وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ عَوْفٍ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَ الْحَدِيثِ الْأَوَّلِ قَبْلَهُ : " لَيْسَ الْغَنِيُّ عَنْ كَثْرَةِ الْعَرَضِ ، إِنَّمَا الْغَنِيُّ غَنِيُّ النَّفْسِ " .
Al-Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) transmits from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a report similar in meaning to the previous hadith, that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "True richness is not an abundance of worldly wealth, goods and outward possessions; rather, real self-sufficiency and true richness is that a person's own soul is content and his heart is free of every kind of greed and covetousness."
