وَبِهِ قَالَ : لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عِمَادٌ ، وَعِمَادُ هَذَا الدِّينِ الْفِقْهُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Everything has a pillar and support, and the firm pillar and true foundation of this religion (of Islam) is fiqh (deep understanding and insight into the religion)."
Imam al-Bayhaqi recorded this hadith in Shu'ab al-Iman, although the hadith scholars have criticised the soundness of its chain.
