It is narrated from Sayyiduna Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sprinkle dust on writing (ink), for this is the more suitable way to make it successful (by preventing it from spreading and drying it quickly)." Here 'tarribu al-kitab' means sprinkling dust on the fresh ink on the paper so that it is absorbed, and 'anjahu lahu' means success in preserving the writing and drying it quickly.
Ahmad bin Mani' recorded this report in his Musnad; however, this hadith is da'if (weak) because its chain contains the narrator Hisham bin Ziyad Abu al-Miqdam, who is not reliable or strong according to the hadith scholars.
