وَقَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : أَخْبَرَنَا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، ثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنِي مَنْ سَمِعَ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنِّي لَسْتُ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ بَعْدِي مُؤْمِنًا مُوقِنًا ، وَلَا كَافِرًا مُعْلِنًا ، فَأَمَّا الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمُوقِنُ فَيَحْجِزُهُ إِيمَانُهُ ، وَأَمَّا الْمُعْلِنُ فَبِكُفْرِهِ ، وَلَكِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ بَعْدِي عَالِمًا لِسَانُهُ ، جَاهِلًا قَلْبُهُ ، يَقُولُ مَا تَعْرِفُونَ وَيَعْمَلُ مَا تُنْكِرُونَ .
2987 \ 2 - أَخْبَرَنَا غَسَّانُ الْكُوفِيُّ أَبُو بِشْرٍ الْأَسَدِيُّ : وَكَانَ جَلِيسَ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ ، ثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي فَرْوَةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فِي حَلْقَةٍ : أَيُّكُمْ يُحَدِّثُنِي عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدِيثًا ؟ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : أَنَا ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : لَسْتُ أَخَافُ عَلَى أُمَّتِي مُؤْمِنًا ، وَلَا كَافِرًا ، أَمَّا الْمُؤْمِنُ فَيَمْنَعُهُ إِيمَانُهُ ، وَأَمَّا الْكَافِرُ فَيَمْنَعُهُ كُفْرُهُ ، وَلَكِنَّ رَجُلًا بَيْنَهُمَا يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ ، حَتَّى إِذَا ذَلِقَ بِهِ يَتَأَوَّلُهُ عَلَى غَيْرِ تَأْوِيلِهِ ، فَقَالَ مَا تَعْلَمُونَ ، وَعَمِلَ مَا تُنْكِرُونَ فَضَلَّ وَأَضَلَّ .
قُلْتُ : أَظُنُّ أَنَّ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمَدَنِيَّ الْمَذْكُورَ فِي الرِّوَايَةِ الْأُولَى هُوَ إِسْحَاقُ الْمَذْكُورُ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ ، وَإِنَّمَا دَلَّسَهُ بَقِيَّةُ لِضَعْفِهِ .
2987 \ 2 - أَخْبَرَنَا غَسَّانُ الْكُوفِيُّ أَبُو بِشْرٍ الْأَسَدِيُّ : وَكَانَ جَلِيسَ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ ، ثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي فَرْوَةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فِي حَلْقَةٍ : أَيُّكُمْ يُحَدِّثُنِي عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدِيثًا ؟ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : أَنَا ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : لَسْتُ أَخَافُ عَلَى أُمَّتِي مُؤْمِنًا ، وَلَا كَافِرًا ، أَمَّا الْمُؤْمِنُ فَيَمْنَعُهُ إِيمَانُهُ ، وَأَمَّا الْكَافِرُ فَيَمْنَعُهُ كُفْرُهُ ، وَلَكِنَّ رَجُلًا بَيْنَهُمَا يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ ، حَتَّى إِذَا ذَلِقَ بِهِ يَتَأَوَّلُهُ عَلَى غَيْرِ تَأْوِيلِهِ ، فَقَالَ مَا تَعْلَمُونَ ، وَعَمِلَ مَا تُنْكِرُونَ فَضَلَّ وَأَضَلَّ .
قُلْتُ : أَظُنُّ أَنَّ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمَدَنِيَّ الْمَذْكُورَ فِي الرِّوَايَةِ الْأُولَى هُوَ إِسْحَاقُ الْمَذْكُورُ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ ، وَإِنَّمَا دَلَّسَهُ بَقِيَّةُ لِضَعْفِهِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I do not fear for you after me a believer firm in certainty, nor an open disbeliever. As for the believer of certainty, his faith will restrain him (from harming you); and as for the open disbeliever, his very disbelief (will be a barrier for you against his evil). But what I fear for you after me is a person whose tongue is learned but whose heart is ignorant: he says things that you recognise (as truth) but does things that you reject (that is, they are against the Shari'ah)."
Sa'id bin al-Musayyib said that in a study circle in Madinah a man asked: Which of you will narrate to me a hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: I will; I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "I do not fear for my Ummah a believer nor a disbeliever. As for the believer, his faith holds him back (from evil), and as for the disbeliever, his disbelief (by disgracing him) stops him. Rather, I fear a man who is between the two (a hypocrite): he reads the Qur'an until, when the Qur'an flows smoothly on his tongue, he begins to give it false interpretations contrary to its true meaning. He says things that you know (to be true) but does things that you know to be objectionable; so he went astray himself and led others astray."
I (Ibn Hajar) say: I think that Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Madani mentioned in the first narration is the same Ishaq bin Abdullah mentioned in the second narration, and Baqiyyah bin al-Walid certainly committed tadlis (concealing his name) by mentioning his kunyah because of Ishaq's weakness.
