It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man said: "O Messenger of Allah! What do you say about a man who stands (in worship) at night, fasts by day, attains the blessing of Hajj and Umrah, strives in jihad in the path of Allah Almighty, visits the sick, maintains the ties of kinship (treats his relatives well), follows funerals and hosts the guest?" until the questioner counted these ten qualities, and he asked: "So what will be his rank and standing with Allah Almighty on the Day of Resurrection?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, the reward for all the deeds he performed will be given according to the measure of his intellect and understanding."
This report makes clear that the reward for deeds in the court of Allah is granted in proportion to the servant's understanding, knowledge and conscious state.
