It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had two freed slaves, one of whom was an Abyssinian and the other a Nabataean. The two of them reviled each other and exchanged insults while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was listening to them. One of them said to his companion (as a taunt): "O Nabataean!" and the other said (in reply): "O Abyssinian!" At this the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (forbidding them from this racial distinction) said: "Do not both of you say such words; the reality is that you are two men from among the companions of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)."
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded this hadith in his Musnad (2735); however, the hadith scholars have declared the narrator in its chain, Yazid bin Abi Ziyad, weak due to his poor memory.
