وَقَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ ، قَالَ : " بَعَثَنِي أَبِي ، وَبَعَثَ الْعَبَّاسُ الْفَضْلَ ابْنَهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَدَخَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ ، فَأَجْلَسَنَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ ، فَحَصَرَنَا كَأَشَدِّ حَصْرٍ تَرَاهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abd al-Muttalib bin Rabi'ah bin al-Harith bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "My father sent me, and Sayyiduna al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) sent his son al-Fadl, to the blessed presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So we came into his (peace and blessings be upon him) presence, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) seated us on his right and his left. Then we were overcome by such intense hesitation and awkwardness that you would never have seen nervousness more severe than it."
Takhrij: Ibn Abi Shaybah narrated it in his 'Musannaf' (2701), and the basis of this incident is also reported in Sahih Muslim (1072), within the long story about the collection of zakah.
