وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا فَائِدٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : أَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا مِنْ خَيْبَرَ ، قَدْ أَرْدَفَ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا عَلَى حَقِيبَتِهِ ، وَأَبُو رَافِعٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ عَلَى جَمَلٍ ، فَلَمَّا دَنَوْنَا مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ ، قَالَ : " يَا أَبَا رَافِعٍ ، انْزِلْ عَنِ الْجَمَلِ ، وَاحْمِلْ عَلَيْهِ صَفِيَّةَ ، فَإِنِّي أَخْشَى أَنْ يَنْفَجِرَ الصُّبْحُ قَبْلَ أَنْ نَدْخُلَ الْمَدِينَةَ " ، قَالَ : فَسَارَ أَبُو رَافِعٍ ، حَتَّى أَدْخَلَهَا الْمَدِينَةَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned one day from Khaybar. He (peace and blessings be upon him) had seated Sayyidah Safiyyah bint Huyayy (may Allah be pleased with her) on the rear part of the saddle of his mount, while Sayyiduna Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) was riding a separate camel. When we drew near to Madinah, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abu Rafi', get down from your camel and mount Safiyyah on it, for I fear that the light of dawn may spread before we enter Madinah." The narrator said: So Sayyiduna Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) set off with her until he brought her safely into Madinah.
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded this hadith; the narrator in its chain, Fa'id bin Abd al-Rahman al-Attar, has been declared weak by the hadith scholars.
