وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ ، عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَرْزَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " أَلَا إِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يُسَوِّدُ الْوَجْهَ ، وَالنَّمِيمَةُ عَذَابُ الْقَبْرِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Barzah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Beware! Lying indeed blackens the face, and tale-bearing is a cause of the punishment of the grave."
