قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، ثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَيْسَرَةَ ، قَالَ : إِنَّ رَجُلًا صَنَعَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ طَعَامًا فَدَعَاهُ ، فَقَالَ : أَتَأْذَنُ لِي فِي سَعْدٍ فَأَذِنَ لَهُ ، ثُمَّ صَنَعَ طَعَامًا ، فَقَالَ : أَتَأْذَنُ لِي فِي سَعْدٍ [فَأَذِنَ لَهُ ، ثُمَّ صَنَعَ طَعَامًا ، فَقَالَ : تَأْذَنُ فِي سَعْدٍ ] فَإِنَّهُ صَاحِبُكُمْ .
It is narrated from Abu Maysarah (may Allah have mercy on him) that a man prepared food for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and invited him (to the meal). He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Do you permit me (to bring) Sa'd?" The man gave him (peace and blessings be upon him) permission. Then he prepared food again, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) again asked: "Do you permit me Sa'd?" [So the man gave him (peace and blessings be upon him) permission. Then he prepared food (a third time), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Do you give permission concerning Sa'd?"] For he is your (brother in faith and) companion.
The chain of this hadith is sahih, and Ibn Abi Shaybah recorded it in al-Musannaf and Ahmad in al-Musnad.
