It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out of the toilet and ate food. It was said to him (peace and blessings be upon him): "Will you not perform ablution?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do I intend to pray, that I should perform ablution?"
Musnad al-Harith: 2407. Its chain contains Dawud bin al-Muhabbar, a da'if (weak) narrator; however, it is established by other sahih narrations that ablution (the ablution for prayer) is not obligatory merely for eating.
