وَقَالَ الْحُمَيْدِيُّ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، ثَنَا ابْنُ جُدْعَانَ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَمَّا أَنَا فَلَا آكُلُ مُتَّكِئًا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As for me, I do not eat while reclining (that is, while leaning on something for support)."
Imam al-Humaydi narrated this hadith in his Musnad. Although its chain contains Ali bin Zayd bin Jud'an, who is da'if (weak), the text of this hadith is established through other sahih chains, as it is narrated in Sahih al-Bukhari from Sayyiduna Abu Juhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) avoided eating while reclining in order to remain in a state of humility and servitude.
