Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 2327 — The lawfulness of animals

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، ثَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ سَعِيدُ بْنُ إِيَاسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ ، قَالَ : أُكِلَ الضَّبُّ عَلَى مَائِدَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَلَمْ يَأْكُلْهُ وَلَمْ يَنْهَ [عَنْهُ] " .
Abu al-Ala (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: "Lizard (dabb) was eaten at the dining spread of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), but he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not eat it, nor did he forbid it."
