It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her): "O Fatimah! Get up and witness your sacrifice. Know that with the first drop of its blood that falls, every sin of yours will be forgiven. Indeed, on the Day of Resurrection it (the sacrifice) will be brought with its meat and its blood, (multiplied) seventy times, and then it will be placed in your Scale (the pan of good deeds)."
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Is this virtue specific to the family of Muhammad, for they are worthy of the good with which they have been singled out, or is it for the family of Muhammad and the people in general?" He (the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)) said: "Rather, it is for the family of Muhammad and for the people (all) in general."
