قَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ : " حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، ثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ وَهُوَ مَرِيضٌ ، فَرَأَيْتُ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ عُمَيْسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا تَذُبُّ [عَنْهُ] وَهِيَ مَوْشُومَةُ الْيَدَيْنِ [ أَيْ : مَنْقُوشَتُهُمَا بِالْحِنَّاءِ ] " .
Ahmad bin Mani' (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Hushaym narrated to us, from Isma'il bin Abi Khalid, from Qays bin Abi Hazim, who said: "I visited Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was ill. I saw Sayyidah Asma' bint Umays (may Allah be pleased with her) driving (the flies) away from him, and her hands bore decorative patterns."
