وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ الْمُحَبَّرُ ، ثَنَا مَيْسَرَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ السَّعْدِيِّ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَا : خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ وَفِيهِ : وَمَنْ لَبِسَ ثَوْبًا فَاخْتَالَ فِيهِ خُسِفَ بِهِ مِنْ شَفِيرِ جَهَنَّمَ فَيُجَلْجِلُ فِيهَا مَا دَامَتِ السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالْأَرْضُ ؛ لِأَنَّ قَارُونَ لَبِسَ حُلَّةً فَاخْتَالَ ، فَخُسِفَ بِهِ فَهُوَ يُجَلْجِلُ فِيهَا إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that "the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed us in a sermon and in it he also said: 'Whoever wears a garment and struts in it (i.e. displays arrogance), he will be swallowed into the earth from the edge of Hell, and he will keep tumbling and falling in it for as long as the heavens and the earth endure. That is because Qarun wore a costly suit of clothes and strutted in it with arrogance, so he was swallowed into the earth, and he will keep tumbling and falling in it until the Day of Resurrection.'"
