وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ سَلَّامٍ ، ثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ مِخْرَاقٍ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : لَعَدْلُ الْعَامِلِ فِي رَعِيَّتِهِ يَوْمًا وَاحِدًا أَفْضَلُ مِنْ عِبَادَةِ الْعَابِدِ فِي أَهْلِهِ مِائَةَ عَامٍ أَوْ خَمْسِينَ عَامًا الشَّاكُّ هُشَيْمٌ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A ruler's being just among his subjects for a single day is more excellent than a worshipper's worship performed while living among his family for a hundred years or fifty years."
