أَخْبَرَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ وَهُوَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَفْصَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ جُدْعَانَ ، عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : قَالَ لِي عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ حِينَ طُعِنَ : اعْلَمْ أَنَّ كُلَّ أَسِيرٍ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي أَيْدِي الْمُشْرِكِينَ فَفِكَاكُهُ مِنْ بَيْتِ مَالِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ .
إِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was wounded, he said to me: "Know well that every captive from among the believers who is in the hands of the polytheists, the ransom for his release is the responsibility of the Muslims' treasury (Bayt al-Mal)." Its chain is hasan (good).
