قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْمُقْرِئُ ، عَنِ الْإِفْرِيقِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنِي عُمَارَةُ بْنُ غُرَابٍ ، قَالَ : إِنَّ عَمَّةً لَهُ حَدَّثَتْهُ أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا فَقَالَتْ : إِنَّ إِحْدَانَا تَحِيضُ وَلَيْسَ لَهَا وَلِزَوْجِهَا إِلَّا فِرَاشٌ وَاحِدٌ وَلِحَافٌ وَاحِدٌ ، فَكَيْفَ تَصْنَعُ ؟ قَالَتْ : " تَشُدُّ عَلَيْهَا إِزَارَهَا ، ثُمَّ تَنَامُ مَعَهُ ، وَلَهُ مَا فَوْقَ ذَلِكَ " .

It is narrated from the paternal aunt of Umarah bin Ghurab that she asked the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): "One of us menstruates, and she and her husband have only one bed and one quilt (covering sheet); so what should she do?" Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "She should tie her waist-wrapper firmly upon herself, then sleep with her husband, and it is lawful for the husband to enjoy what is above that (the part covered by the waist-wrapper)."
