It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), concerning performing ablution with sea water, that he said: "Both of them are seas (that is, fresh water and salt water); it does not harm you, nor is there any objection, whichever of the two you begin your ablution with." This narration is mawquf (stopping at the Companion), and all its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
