وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ ، ثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِزَيْدِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ أَوْ لِعَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا : إِذَا بَعَثْتَ سَرِيَّةً فَلَا تُفْسِدْهُمْ وَأَهْبِطْهُمْ ; فَإِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى يَنْصُرُ الْقَوْمَ بِأَضْعَفِهِمْ .
It is narrated from a man of the people of Madinah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Zayd bin Harithah or Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both): "When you dispatch a detachment (sariyyah), do not ruin and waste them (through severe hardship or poor management), and have them camp at level and suitable places; for Allah Almighty grants help and victory to a people on account of (the blessing or supplications of) their weakest members."
