Abu Zur'ah bin Umar bin Jarir (may Allah have mercy on him) relates that the Commander of the Believers, Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), dispatched an army in which Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) was also included. When the army had set off, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saw Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) (still present there) and asked: "What has held you back?" He said: "I intended to first offer the Friday prayer and then set out." At this Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Surely, going out once in the morning or once in the evening in the path of Allah Almighty is better than the world and everything in it."
