It is narrated from Abu Mijlaz (may Allah have mercy on him) that a man asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about a one-eyed man whose remaining sound eye was also gouged out. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him) answered (in the presence of Ibn Umar) that Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) had ruled the full blood-money in this case. At this the questioner said (to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both): "It is you I am asking." He (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "Are you asking me, when this man is telling you that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) gave this ruling in this matter?"
