وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ - هُوَ ابْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَزْمٍ - عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ : إِنَّ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَقَامَ عَلَى رَجُلٍ الْحَدَّ وَهُوَ مَرِيضٌ ، وَقَالَ : أَخْشَى أَنْ يَمُوتَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُقَامَ عَلَيْهِ الْحَدُّ .
It is narrated from Abu Bakr bin Amr bin Hazm (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Commander of the Believers, Sayyiduna Umar al-Faruq (may Allah be pleased with him), carried out the prescribed hadd punishment on a sick man (despite his illness), and gave this as the reason: "I fear that this man may die before the hadd is carried out on him."
