قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ ، ثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا ، عَنِ الْمُعَلَّى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اسْتَتَابَ رَجُلًا ارْتَدَّ عَنِ الْإِسْلَامِ أَرْبَعَ مَرَّاتٍ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked a man who had turned away from the religion of Islam and committed apostasy to repent four times.
