وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ قَالَ : " بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ عُمَرَ وَابْنَ عُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ كَانُوا يَجْلِدُونَ فِي الْخَمْرِ أَرْبَعِينَ ".
Imam Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) states: A reliable report has reached me that Sayyiduna Umar al-Faruq, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar and Sayyiduna Uthman al-Ghani (may Allah be pleased with them) used to give forty lashes as the prescribed punishment for drinking wine.
