Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 1775 — Oaths and vows

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: "Whoever swears to beat one under his authority (an owned slave or servant), the expiation of his oath is simply to abandon that intention (and not beat him), and along with this expiation the act is also a good deed."
