قَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ مَوْلَى التَّوْأَمَةِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَا يُذْهِبُ عَنِّي مَذَمَّةَ الرَّضَاعِ ؟ فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْغُرَّةُ " ، يَعْنِي الْعَبْدَ أَوِ الْأَمَةَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: "What is it that can remove from me the claim of the right of nursing or the burden of its obligation?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A ghurrah (that is, giving a male or female slave)."
According to the commentators of hadith, 'ghurrah' here means a male or female slave of excellent quality and free of every defect; presenting such a slave to the woman who nursed the child, as compensation or a gift for her toil, has been declared a means of acknowledging her favour and of being released from the moral obligation.
