قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ ، بَنَا أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : حَضَرْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَجَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ : إِنْ وَجَدْتُ عَلَى بَطْنِ امْرَأَتِي رَجُلًا أَضْرِبُهُ بِالسَّيْفِ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَيُّ بَيِّنَةٍ أَبْيَنُ مِنَ السَّيْفِ ؟ " ثُمَّ رَجَعَ عَنْ قَوْلِهِ فَقَالَ : " كِتَابُ اللهِ تَعَالَى وَشَاهِدٌ " .
فَقَالَ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : أَيُّ بَيِّنَةٍ أَبْيَنُ مِنَ السَّيْفِ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كِتَابُ اللهِ تَعَالَى وَشَاهِدٌ " . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ ، هَذَا سَعْدٌ قَدِ اسْتَفَزَّتْهُ الْغَيْرَةُ حَتَّى خَالَفَ كِتَابَ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ! فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ : إِنَّ سَعْدًا غَيُورٌ ، مَا تَزَوَّجَ ثَيِّبًا قَطُّ ، وَلَا قَدَرَ رَجُلٌ مِنَّا أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجَ امْرَأَةً طَلَّقَهَا .
فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ سَعْدًا غَيُورٌ ، وَأَنَا غَيُورٌ ، وَاللهُ أَغْيَرُ مِنِّي " . فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ : عَلَى مَا يَغَارُ اللهُ تَعَالَى ؟ فَقَالَ : " عَلَى رَجُلٍ مُجَاهِدٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ تَعَالَى يُخَالَفُ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ " .
فِيهِ انْقِطَاعٌ فِيمَا أَظُنُّ ، وَأَبُو مَعْشَرٍ ضَعِيفٌ .
فَقَالَ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : أَيُّ بَيِّنَةٍ أَبْيَنُ مِنَ السَّيْفِ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كِتَابُ اللهِ تَعَالَى وَشَاهِدٌ " . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ ، هَذَا سَعْدٌ قَدِ اسْتَفَزَّتْهُ الْغَيْرَةُ حَتَّى خَالَفَ كِتَابَ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ! فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ : إِنَّ سَعْدًا غَيُورٌ ، مَا تَزَوَّجَ ثَيِّبًا قَطُّ ، وَلَا قَدَرَ رَجُلٌ مِنَّا أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجَ امْرَأَةً طَلَّقَهَا .
فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ سَعْدًا غَيُورٌ ، وَأَنَا غَيُورٌ ، وَاللهُ أَغْيَرُ مِنِّي " . فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ : عَلَى مَا يَغَارُ اللهُ تَعَالَى ؟ فَقَالَ : " عَلَى رَجُلٍ مُجَاهِدٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ تَعَالَى يُخَالَفُ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ " .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him): I was present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when a man came to him and said: "(O Messenger of Allah!) If I find another man with my wife, should I strike him with the sword?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said (at first): "What proof could be clearer than the sword?" Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) withdrew from this statement and said: "The Book of Allah Almighty (its ruling) and a witness (are required)." At this Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) spoke up: "What proof could be clearer than the sword?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said again (repeating the same words): "The Book of Allah Almighty and a witness." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said (addressing the Ansar): "O company of the Ansar! This is Sa'd, whose jealousy and sense of honour have stirred him so much that he has even begun to oppose the Book of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic." A man from the Ansar said: "O Messenger of Allah! Sa'd is extremely protective; he has never married a widow or a divorced woman, and none of us has the courage to marry a woman he has divorced." At this the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sa'd is indeed protective, and I am more protective than him, and Allah Almighty is even more protective than me." One of the Ansar asked: "Over what does Allah Almighty feel jealousy?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Over the mujahid who has gone out (for jihad) in the path of Allah Almighty, and behind him he is betrayed with regard to his family."
