It is narrated from Imam al-Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him), attributing it to the Prophet, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by some people engaged in 'dirkalah' (a particular traditional game of the Abyssinians), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Banu Arfidah, carry on with your game, so that the Jews and Christians may know that there is breadth and latitude in our religion." The narrator said: While they were still in that state, Sayyiduna Umar al-Faruq (may Allah be pleased with him) suddenly arrived there, and as soon as those people saw him (may Allah be pleased with him), they took fright (because of his awe and majesty) and scattered.
