Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 1624 — The prohibition of intercourse

وَقَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، ثَنَا مِنْدَلٌ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمْ أَهْلَهُ فَلْيَسْتَتِرْ ، وَلَا يَتَجَرَّدَانِ تَجَرُّدَ الْعَيْرَيْنِ " .
1624 \ 2 - وَرَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ الْأَهْوَازِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي غَسَّانَ .
وَقَالَ : أَخْطَأَ فِيهِ مِنْدَلٌ . وَذَكَرَ شَرِيكٌ أَنَّهُ كَانَ هُوَ وَمِنْدَلٌ عِنْدَ الْأَعْمَشِ ، فَحَدَّثَهُمْ عَاصِمٌ الْأَحْوَلُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ مُرْسَلًا .
1624 \ 2 - وَرَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ الْأَهْوَازِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي غَسَّانَ .
وَقَالَ : أَخْطَأَ فِيهِ مِنْدَلٌ . وَذَكَرَ شَرِيكٌ أَنَّهُ كَانَ هُوَ وَمِنْدَلٌ عِنْدَ الْأَعْمَشِ ، فَحَدَّثَهُمْ عَاصِمٌ الْأَحْوَلُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ مُرْسَلًا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you goes to his wife (for intimacy), let him take a covering, and let the two of them not be completely naked like two wild donkeys."
Imam al-Bazzar has also reported this narration by way of Ahmad bin Ishaq al-Ahwazi and Abu Ghassan, and Imam al-Bazzar says that the narrator 'Mindal' made a mistake in the chain of this narration; whereas a narrator named Sharik mentioned that he and Mindal were both present in the gathering of Imam al-A'mash when Asim al-Ahwal narrated this hadith before them by way of Abu Qilabah as 'mursal' (i.e. without mentioning the Companion).
Imam al-Bazzar has also reported this narration by way of Ahmad bin Ishaq al-Ahwazi and Abu Ghassan, and Imam al-Bazzar says that the narrator 'Mindal' made a mistake in the chain of this narration; whereas a narrator named Sharik mentioned that he and Mindal were both present in the gathering of Imam al-A'mash when Asim al-Ahwal narrated this hadith before them by way of Abu Qilabah as 'mursal' (i.e. without mentioning the Companion).
