قَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ : حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ الزِّبْرِقَانِ ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ مِغْوَلٍ ، عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ ، فَعَرَّسْنَا ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ ، ثُمَّ غَدَوْنَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَجَعَلَ يَسْأَلُ رَجُلًا رَجُلًا : " أَتَزَوَّجْتَ يَا فُلَانُ ؟ أَتَزَوَّجْتَ يَا فُلَانُ ؟ " ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " تَزَوَّجْتَ يَا كَعْبُ ؟ " ، قُلْتُ : نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ، قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَبِكْرًا ، أَمْ ثَيِّبًا ؟ " ، قُلْتُ : ثَيِّبًا . قَالَ : " فَهَلَّا بِكْرًا تَعَضُّهَا وَتَعَضُّكَ . ؟ "
1597 \ 2 - وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ ، ثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ ، ثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ دِهْقَانٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : " يَا فُلَانُ ، أَتَزَوَّجْتَ ؟ " قَالَ : لَا ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ لِي : " تَزَوَّجْتَ ؟ " ، قُلْتُ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " أَبِكْرًا أَمْ ثَيِّبًا ؟ " ... فَذَكَرَهُ .
1597 \ 3 - قَالَ : وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ جَبَلَةَ ، ثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ ... فَذَكَرَهُ ، لَكِنْ لَيْسَ فِيهِ : عَنْ أَبِيهِ .
1597 \ 2 - وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ ، ثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ ، ثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ دِهْقَانٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : " يَا فُلَانُ ، أَتَزَوَّجْتَ ؟ " قَالَ : لَا ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ لِي : " تَزَوَّجْتَ ؟ " ، قُلْتُ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " أَبِكْرًا أَمْ ثَيِّبًا ؟ " ... فَذَكَرَهُ .
1597 \ 3 - قَالَ : وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ جَبَلَةَ ، ثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ ... فَذَكَرَهُ ، لَكِنْ لَيْسَ فِيهِ : عَنْ أَبِيهِ .
Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey; we halted for part of the night and then early in the morning came into the blessed presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) began asking each man individually: "O so-and-so! Have you married? O so-and-so! Have you married?" Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me: "O Ka'b! Have you married?" I said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Did you marry a virgin or a previously married woman (a widow or divorcee)?" I said: A previously married woman. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why did you not marry a virgin, so that you would play amorously with her and she with you (and you would delight in each other)?"
Imam Abu Ya'la also narrated with his chain from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked a man: "O so-and-so! Have you married?" He said: No. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me: "Have you married?" I said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "A virgin or a previously married woman?" Then he mentioned the full story. This incident is also mentioned in the narration of Abd al-Rahman bin Jabalah, but its chain does not contain the words 'from his father'.
Imam Abu Ya'la also narrated with his chain from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked a man: "O so-and-so!
