It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah and Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed us with a sermon; then the narrator mentioned a long hadith in which there are also these (words): "Whoever casts an unlawful glance at a woman, Allah Almighty will fill his two eyes with fire, then he will be ordered to be taken to Hell; but if he lowers his gaze from her (out of fear of temptation), Allah Almighty will place His love and His mercy in his heart and will issue the command of Paradise for him. And whoever shakes hands with a non-mahram woman will come on the Day of Resurrection with his two hands tied to his neck, then he will be ordered to be taken to the Fire; and if he jested (flirted) with that woman, he will be detained (in Hell) for a thousand years for every word spoken in the world." And in the same hadith there is also: "And the wrath of Allah is severe upon a married woman who gazes her fill at a strange man (for pleasure) other than her husband or her mahram relative; when she does that, Allah Almighty will nullify every deed she has done. Then if she lets a strange man onto her husband's bed (i.e. commits adultery), it is a right upon Allah Almighty to make her gulp down fire in her grave from the day she dies."
