It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah and Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon to us, in which he (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: "Whoever wrongs a woman regarding her dowry will be counted an adulterer in the sight of Allah Almighty, and on the Day of Resurrection Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will say to him: O My servant! I married you on My covenant, so did you not honour My covenant? Then Allah Almighty Himself will demand that woman's right and will take all of that man's good deeds, and when no good deed remains, he will be ordered to be taken to Hell. And whoever has two wives and does not act justly between them in (dividing) his own person (his turns) and in spending his wealth, he will come on the Day of Resurrection shackled in chains, with one of his sides hanging down, until he enters the Fire."
