قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ أَبِي الْحَارِثِ هُوَ جَابِرُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " خَيْرُكُنَّ أَيْسَرُكُنَّ صَدَاقًا " ، قَالَ : فَكَانَ مُجَاهِدٌ يَقُولُ : إِنْ كَانَ دِرْهَمًا فَهُوَ حَلَالٌ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best of you women are those whose dowry (mahr) is the easiest and lightest." Imam Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) used to say (in explanation of this): "Even if the dowry is fixed at one dirham, it is (legally) lawful."
