الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ ، ثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ وَاسِعِ بْنِ حَبَّانَ ، رَفَعَهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ عَاصِمَ بْنَ عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ الدَّحْدَاحِ : " هَلْ تَعْلَمُونَ لَهُ نَسَبًا فِيكُمْ ؟ " قَالُوا : لَا ، إِنَّمَا هُوَ أَتِيٌّ فِينَا ، فَقَضَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِيرَاثِهِ لِابْنِ أُخْتِهِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Wasi' bin Habban (may Allah be pleased with him), who related it as marfu' (attributed) to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Sayyiduna Asim bin Adi (may Allah be pleased with him) about Sayyiduna Thabit bin al-Dahdah (may Allah be pleased with him): "Do you know of any lineage (relative) of his among you?" They replied: No, he was merely a newcomer (stranger) among us. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) decided that his inheritance be given to his sister's son.
