وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، عَنْ ثَوْرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ ، قَالَ : إِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - بَيَّنَ أَنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى تَصَدَّقَ عَلَيْكُمْ بِثُلُثِ أَمْوَالِكُمْ عِنْدَ وَفَاتِكُمْ .
It is reported from Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him): "Indeed, Allah Almighty has given you in charity one third of your wealth at the time of your death (i.e. He has done you a favour by granting you the right to make a bequest in it)."
