حَدَّثَنَا شَبَّابٌ ، ثَنَا عَوْنُ بْنُ كَهْمَسٍ ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ السُّلَمِيِّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : مَنْ أَخَذَ مِنْ طَرِيقِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ شِبْرًا جَاءَ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَحْمِلُهُ مِنْ سَبْعِ أَرَضِينَ ، قَالَ : وَغَزَوْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - سَبْعَ غَزَوَاتٍ ، آخِرُهُنَّ حُنَيْنٌ ، فَكُنْتُ أَسِيرُ فِي مُقَدِّمَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَخَلَأَتْ رَاحِلَتِي ، فَمَرَّ بِي رَسُولُ اللهِ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَأَنَا أَضْرِبُهَا ، فَقَالَ : مَهْ ، وَزَجَرَهَا فَقَامَتْ .
It is narrated from al-Hakam bin al-Harith al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever takes even a handspan of land from the road of the Muslims will bring it on the Day of Resurrection, carrying it from (as deep as) the seven earths." (Al-Hakam bin al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with him)) said: I took part in seven military expeditions with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), the last of which was Hunayn. I was marching in the vanguard of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when my mount, worn out, sat down. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by me while I was beating it, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Stop!" and he (peace and blessings be upon him) chided it, and it immediately stood up.
