It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: "Whenever Sayyiduna Abbas bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) gave his wealth as mudarabah (for investment), he would stipulate to his partner that he would not travel with that wealth by land or by sea, nor descend into any valley with it, nor buy any living creature (a thing with a moist liver) with it; and if he did so, he would be liable (for the wealth in case of loss). Then he presented this condition of his to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) approved it."
