إِسْحَاقُ : أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، ثَنَا الْأَحْوَصُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَوْنٍ الْأَعْوَرِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، قَالَ : أَرْسَلَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا - إِلَى رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - يَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ قَوْلِ رَسُولِ اللهِ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فِي أَرْضِ الْعَجَمِ وَشِرَائِهَا وَكِرَائِهَا ، فَقَالَ رَافِعُ بْنُ خَدِيجٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - : نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ - صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - عَنْ بَيْعِ أَرْضِ الْعَجَمِ وَشِرَائِهَا وَكِرَائِهَا .

It is narrated from Sa'id bin al-Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) sent a man to Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) to ask him what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had said about the land of the non-Arabs ('Ajam), its purchase and its rental. Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade selling the land of the non-Arabs, buying it and renting it."
