It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that whenever he returned from a journey, he would first pray two rak'ahs in the Mosque of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then go to the blessed grave and say: 'As-salamu alayka ya Rasulallah' (Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah), 'As-salamu alayka ya Aba Bakr' (Peace be upon you, O Abu Bakr), 'As-salamu alayka ya abah' (Peace be upon you, O my honoured father). In another narration: whenever he returned from a journey, he would begin with the Mosque, pray two rak'ahs in it, then go to the blessed grave, and the narrator mentioned the same as the first narration. Explanation: This report is sahih (authentic) and mawquf.
